Casting is the process of shaping metals and alloys by melting, pouring the molten material into a mold, and then cooling and solidifying it according to the shape of the mold cavity. This is the oldest known method for obtaining the desired form of metals. The first casting furnaces were made of clay, with alternating layers of copper and wood placed inside.
Casting is one of the fundamental manufacturing methods, as more than 50% of components for various types of machinery are produced using this technique.
